  • During my time as lead media consultant, reach increased 328% and total media mentions increased 98.6% compared with the previous period
  • 62% rise in regional president visibility and 38% rise in their total media mentions, showcasing the value of becoming an NZCB regional president and reinforcing credibility
  • 71% total industry share of voice, overtaking Master Builders
  • Brand awareness up from 10% to 19% (alongside marketing activity)
  • 100% of broadcast news share of voice at the launch of the reform
  • 55 broadcast and print stories on proportionate liability, including a direct quote in the Minister’s media release and standing alongside the Minister for a later announcement

Worked collaboratively with the team to take a design competition through 19 regional events to a national final at the NZCB Conference and Awards. Combined a national narrative with media preparation for apprentice builders and regional presidents, and proactive media, council and government engagement in each region.

  • 119 media stories, up 300% year on year
  • 60 more media mentions than Master Builders’ Apprentice of the Year programme
  • Sponsor messaging for BCITO and Mitre 10 Mega woven into quotes, signage and interviews
  • MPs, mayors and councillors engaged at regional events

A values-led campaign linking industry wellbeing with community impact, including a charity working bee after a fire at an Abilities Group workshop.

  • Prime-time feature on TVNZ’s Seven Sharp
  • National radio interviews, print and online coverage across every major radio station
  • Stronger sponsor and partner relationships through purpose-driven storytelling

Developed the national media strategy and narrative for funding Trikafta for children aged two to five.

  • Helped secure placement on Pharmac’s priority funding list
  • The media campaign contributed to extended funding for a cystic fibrosis treatment and funding for new treatments
  • Two prime-time TV stories in the first week
  • Front-page and video coverage across NZME (NZ Herald, Herald Now, Newstalk ZB), then every major radio station, newspaper and online outlet within a month
  • Sustained ministerial engagement, with the Deputy Prime Minister quoting the campaign’s message when announcing the funding

Worked collaboratively with the team on the Greyhound Racing New Zealand campaign, personally leading Select Committee oral submission preparation and media engagement, and assisting with Government relations advice and support. Together, we fought for a fair voice for greyhound owners, trainers and small business owners whose livelihoods relied on the industry, sharing the love, passion and joy behind caring for the animals seven days a week.

I believe everyone has the right to be heard, even on controversial issues. In my view, the industry had not been afforded that opportunity before the December 2024 closure announcement. Although too late to prevent the announcement, we put the industry’s arguments forward and brought the people behind it into the public conversation.

  • Secured regional stories across New Zealand, alongside coverage on major political radio shows, national broadcast radio and in print
  • Worked with the team to highlight the people, families and small businesses affected, including the future of the country’s only animal blood bank, through Government relations advice and support, media engagement, events and social media
  • Crafted copy for billboards and radio news segments, and organised events including protests
  • Personally led Select Committee oral submission preparation, coaching 60 participants through the process; some of their oral submissions were rated among the best in feedback from senior external PR professionals
  • Industry assets kept in the industry: assets left after the sport wound up were originally designated for horse racing. Under the final law, whatever remains once the transition agency is dissolved goes to industry participants
  • Dogs cared for until rehomed: owners and trainers are paid a daily rate to keep their greyhounds until a home is found
  • Rehoming partners kept on: despite tension over whether existing rehoming partners would be allowed to continue, established groups are leading the rehoming, working alongside the agency board
  • A review that wasn’t there at the start: the Select Committee added a mandatory ministerial review of betting on overseas greyhound racing
  • Cross-party opposition: ACT voted against the Bill at its third reading and pushed for compensation, and the Greens moved amendments challenging betting on Australian greyhounds and other racing codes benefiting from the closure

Worked collaboratively with the team on Accenture, serving as the main media contact and largely leading media engagement and management. Our media stories brought Accenture’s research and expertise into New Zealand’s business conversation, from AI adoption and productivity to cybersecurity and the gap between brand promises and customer experience.

  • Accenture Song’s Brand Experience Gap survey put customer trust on the agenda. The survey featured on RNZ’s Mediawatch, with a Storm Day interview, and across marketing, technology and insurance publications.
  • Helped the team grow media mentions for the Brand Experience Gap survey by 300% year on year
  • Helped the team increase Accenture’s media reach by 62.4% by securing more tier one news stories and growing the number of tier two stories
